We've been so thrilled with the positive reaction to previous Guernsey Street Festivals. We are now busy lining up acts for this year, here are a few to look forward to!
Jazz Band
DixieMix Jazz Band, one of the UK’s top Traditional jazz ensembles, was formed in 2006 by trumpeter Simon Nelson and have seen great success over the years playing at many prestigious jazz clubs and festivals throughout Europe as well as numerous TV appearances. In 2014 the band was chosen to support Rod Stewart as part of his sell out UK stadium tour playing to 25,000 people a night!
Having produced seven albums to date DixieMix loves to put its own twist on great classic jazz standards and always delivers their music with enthusiasm and humour. The 6 piece band can adapt to many lineups and DixieMix are excited to be bringing a quartet to perform as part of the Guernsey Street Festival this year.
Band
The Graduates are a dynamic four‑piece born out of The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, now taking the stage with infectious energy and a crowd‑pleasing set of upbeat, instantly recognisable covers. Their performances are polished, lively, and guaranteed to get audiences singing along. Each member is a seasoned professional musician, and you might even spot a familiar face among their two standout female vocalists.
String Quartet
Having met at the Guernsey Music Centre, the members of the “Vivace!” String Quartet first started playing together as a quartet over a decade ago, when they were 9 and 10. The quartet jointly won the trophy for Under 18 “Performer of the Year” in the 2021 Guernsey Street Festival, and are very excited to come together again this summer to perform in town for the first time since! They are now all university and conservatoire students at Oxford, Cambridge, and the Royal Academy of Music.
As well as playing in town, they love performing at garden parties, weddings, restaurants, care homes, and corporate events across the island.
Their playing has been described as “outstanding” and “spellbinding” by Guernsey Eisteddfod adjudicators.
Singing duo
Often seen performing as solo artists both on the street and stage, husband and wife duo Mike and Lydia will be bringing some jazzy easy listening to the streets for you all to enjoy in the form of their act ‘Sullyside Up’. Singing some songs you all know and love (and perhaps some you may never have heard of!) they hope to provide you with some happy vibes and a snazzy time whilst you jaunt your way through the streets of St Peter Port.
